Dr. Mattson graduated from The University of Arizona in 1979 with a Doctorate in Medicine degree (M.D.), and B.S. Biology from the University of Arizona in 1973.
Rotating Internship in medicine at Mary Imogene Bassett hospital in Cooperstown, New York (1979).
Residency in Emergency Medicine at Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri, completed in 1982.
Associate professor in Emergency Medicine at Truman Medical Center and at Goppert Family Practice residency program at Baptist Medical center, 1982-1988.
Board certified in Emergency Medicine at that time.
